8. Here I Am

From "Who Shall Stand?"

"Here I Am" is written in the perspective of a person accepting God's call. Running with the Laodicean message, it expresses a longing heart and the lowering of man's glory in the dust for Christ's robe of righteousness. This original composition is written for vocal solo, piano, and string quartet.

Lyrics:

You call my name and wait for me

To do the work that You have done.

I count it all as gain not loss

To live for You and lift Your cross.

Here I am, hear my cry;

Take my life, I am Thine.

I let go, all I own;

Here I am, fully known.

I've tried so hard to be like You

But in my strength I cannot do

The work that You have set for me;

"Live within me," is my plea.

Here I am, hear my cry;

Take my life, I am Thine.

I let go, all I own;

Here I am, at thy throne.

I now choose to lift the cross

I can't carry on my own.

Giving all my frailty

On Thy strength, I cling to Thee.

Here I am, hear my cry;

Take my life, I am Thine.

I let go, all I own;

Here I am, my sins atoned.

Coda:

Take my heart I cannot give;

Keep it pure, one life to live.

Make my heart into Your home;

Mold me Lord, to be Thine own.Â
